For a few minutes, there was nothing in sight: the streets and sidewalks were empty, and the occasional bird would flutter past before perching on a new branch.
But then it happened. The faint music in the distance grew louder and louder is drew nearer, and the familiar tune of the Ice Cream Man begin reeling nostalgic memories in her mind: the pink Popsicle in the shape of a baseball glove smeared all over her small white shirt, the other children flitting around, desperately trying to convince their parents to give them enough money to enjoy something from the truck. She smiled began to smile and remember what it was like to be a child with nothing to worry about.
But the smile didn't last very long.
Soon the truck was gone. And as it passed, not a single child was in sight. There was no laughter, there was no "playing". There was just a girl in a car, watching her precious Ice Cream Man drive down an street full of empty nothings.
