Com. Dee. Baby.

May I just say that I love my job? Thank-you, I will. I love my job. I work at the Communications Disorders clinic right off of BYU Campus. I am a secretary to the Department Secretary, which basically means I’m the “go-to” girl for the professors when they need information or copies made, worksheets typed up, or anything else. Unfortunately, I’m not quite “go-to” yet, because I’ve only been here two weeks. It’s really slow during the summer, so it’s hard to learn and remember things when they only happen once every two weeks, as opposed to all the time come Fall and Winter. Every time somebody walks into my office, I shoot up a quick and silent prayer that says something like “Please bless that they ask me something that I know.” And if they ask me something I don’t know, my next prayer goes a little something like “Ok, that’s fine….please bless that I can figure this out quickly”. And after making a complete fool of myself….I do. Eventually.

But aside from the ease and stress-free environment that I am working in now (far from my last office “environment”, I love the people here, especially the clients. The Communications Disorder clinic deals with audiology and speech therapy, specifically helping children and adults overcome problems they may have in these areas. The Grad students here are currently working on their clinic hours, and so they spend time every day working with different children on their lisp, or their hearing, or their communication. Luckily for me, (and in order to help their clients) they take them around the building and introduce them to strangers and observe them having a conversation with somebody they don’t know, or outside of their comfort zone. It really is the highlight of my day when I get to meet a new client and answer their “when” questions, or hold a conversation with a stranger so they can work on their stuttering problem.

Of course, I am not allowed to mention anything personal, or even any names. But I love it here, and am so thankful for this job and the chance to witness people helping other people because they want to.
Also, kids say the darndest things. Did you know?
