****DING DING DING! BUCKET LIST SUCCESS****

Well everybody, I did it! Since creating my Bucket List (see above tabs), I have had the opportunity to do something on my list!

Item number 67: Send off balloons in the air with a note attached to it

CHECK!

The nature of this event makes it seem ironic that I am so happy about it, but let me explain:

While I was writing this bucket list, I kept telling myself, "Well, this might be lame, because you could just go buy some balloons and write a note on it." But I kept having this internal debate as to whether or not I wanted to force something like that or just let it happen. I decided I wanted it to actually mean something, and for there to be a real occasion to do such a thing. This last Thursday, I was able to.

As you may or may not know, my grandmother passed away about a week ago. Last Thursday at her nursing home, the staff got together to hold a small service, and let any of the nursing home staff/residents go outside and send off balloons as a farewell to her. I was invited to this little service, and as they were passing out balloons, I thought "that'd be cool to write a note..."....and then it occurred to me: THIS IS THE PERFECT OPPORTUNITY! Not only do I get to do something I've always wanted to do, but it actually really means something! So I got my balloon, and I wrote a little "note" to my grandma (with our usual profanity on it), and sent it off in the sky with the other balloons. (Though, I hope that nobody finds it, or they might be in for a big surprise...) It really was such a fun experience for us, and I later found out that when my dad was little, my grandma would help him write notes and send them off in the air all the time. They would write their phone number on it, and my dad said that he got 2 or 3 phone calls over the years from people who found the balloons and the note. Pretty neat huh?

Anyway, here are some picture from my "Bucket List Success"!

Me and my note on my balloon!

All of the balloons

My dad took this picture as I was letting go of my balloon. It looks really posed and kind of...fake...but its totally legit.

Fly balloons, fly!
